Study & About Dance
  • Ethnic Dancer
I have watched and studied several ethnic dances from 2000.
[ Tara Dance ] India / originated in Buddhism
Workshop at Izu Oshima, 2000
I participated in a workshop of Tara Dance in Izu-Oshima island Japan organized by Felicity Ozwell, Australia, at the first time in 2000.
Tara dance is my origin of dancing for me, then after this connection to the Tara Dance, several connections to ethnic dances came to me.
Tara is Bodhisattva who attracts widespread popularity in Tibet as like the goddess who realize one's ordinaly wish as well as spiritual grouth. Felicity's workshop in 2000 is for Green Tara who represents young woman's active and rapid power. I love Green Tara.

[ Hula ] Hawai'ian traditional
at Tenkawa Dai Benzaiten
I have dedicated the longest time to practice Hula among other dances from 2001.
I believe deeply that I never stop dancing Hula in my life. Hula is a part of myself, and there are no other dances that substitute Hula although I belive every dances are equal in importance.
First I started to study Auana(modern hula), then Kahiko(traditional-classical hula). Our hula style is 'Aiha'a' that means bending knees well and keeping a low posture, it looks so graceful but dancers need a muscle well trained.

[ Tahitian Dance ] native tahitian
I have practiced with Hula together from 2002.

[ Belly Dance ] Arab(Egypt and Turkey, etc.)
'Turkish Trance 2006'
I took lessons from 2002 to 2006, and not yet dancing now.
I learned from American Bellydancer living in Japan, Mishaal. She planted deeply in me the soul and the femininity of dancing without any reference to the kind of many dances, and shared us her idea of femininity that she experience all over the world. In this period, I was a member of a belly dance group 'Yildiz Tribe' produced by Mishaal.
Tamalyn Dallal is also my best favorite belly dancer. And also, Indian dancer(belly dancer and Indian dancer)Meera is so.

[ Rajasthan Dance ] North India/Rajasthan, desert area
'Namaste India 2006'
I first participated in a workshop of Rajasthan Dance organized by a kathak dancer Sato Masako(Miyabi) in 2005, and took lessons till 2007. I like especially, among Rajasthan dance, acrobatic 'karbellian dance' that dancers bend back deeply the upper body and spin fastly long time. Rajasthan dance doesn't need so much muscle on feet, I feel, but it is so powerful because of its spinning movement, and exhilarates dancers energy. I also like Gipsy's dance among dances of arab, Gypsy dancers also spin so much. Spinning is very nice to release fastly old energy from one's energy field of the body. Sufi in arab also attract me, that is famed for non-stop sppining movement.

[ Kandyan Dance ] Sri Lanka/Kandy district
Lesson of Kandyandance
I started lessons in 2008, and now I' attracted the most. Kandyan dance has 2500 years' tradition concerning Buddhism in Sri Lanka, and there are 4 main families who conserve this tradion till now. My teacher Susantha Surasena was born in a family who has over 500 years of tradition, and first came to Japan in 2000 and now teaches students in Japan. I visited Kandy on March 2008, watched Karasuri Peter Surasena's diamond jubilee celemony, and took a short time lesson from guruthuma.
